The photographed Cs seem to have been induced by a passing anabatic cold front at a level of 450mb. At that level, the air was moist but not much unstable hence favouring the formation of fog-like sheets of high clouds. These formation could also have been enhanced by the formation of thunderstorms over Tunisia though it`s not that likely to have been related.
