Sc radiatus
/ 0 Comments / in Low Levels, StratocumulusThese low-level clouds are clearly parallel to each other. These were formed because of passing cold air from a Northeasterly breeze in a closed pool of cold air sinking into the warm, moist air rising from the warmer waters of the Mediterranean as evidenced by the weather sounding, the 850mb chart and the SST chart respectively. The first thumbnail shows another cloud formation taken earlier on the day which can be classified with the described cloud. This cloud formation is related with the same closed upper trough as explained here. The final thumbnail shows a line of bad weather on the Maltese Islands.
