A hard to identify layered cloud species on top of cumulus humilis clouds which seemed to be unrelated with the formation of the cumulus below. My thaught is that the layered clouds were actually stratus clouds struggling to rise upwards due to the weak late November sunshine and due to convective inhibition as indicated by the weather sounding on the second thumbnail. Of particular note is that a light and moist E wind was blowing at the surface which would have encouraged such cloud formation. The first thumbnail is a cumulus cloud photo that developed later as the inhibition was partially broken. However, cumulus clouds did not produce any local showers let alone thunderstorms. The surface pressure chart indicated a weak low pressure system over Libya.
