Sc opacus
/ 0 Comments / in Low Levels, StratocumulusA totally cloudy sky with stratocumulus clouds ahead of the formation of a Mediterranean cyclone in the Ionian Sea as per first and second thumbnail showing the surface pressure chart and the visible satellite image respectively. Such clouds and small cumulus clouds were also noted in the Maltese Islands before the passage of another Mediterranean cyclone in November 2014. These developed due to strong surface northeasterly wind mixing warmer air rising from the ground and sea surface and pushing the colder air downwards giving the shape of layers to the clouds. These clouds only produced light rain showers as the cyclone never made landfall.
