This photo taken from Santa Lucija, Malta suggests that our Island is under the grip of a major drought. However, rainfall totals from Sep12 till the date mentioned was reading otherwise. So far, the annual average precipitation was of 415mm, below but not much below the of around 520mm to date. The causes were very strong and dry winds throughout most of the Winter coupled with the fact that most of the rainfall fell early in the season from only a few heavy storms.
