Circumhorizontal arc

Very rare and beautiful optical display seen after the dissipation of a local summer thunderstorm. It is called circumhorizontal arc and this phenomena requires perfect cloud composition and sun angulation. This photo was taken at around 1345 CEST which is about solar noon. I can not explain exactly how these form but one may wish to browse these websites: 1) 2) Note – The attached weather sounding showed quite humid upper-levels of the atmosphere althaugh this phenomena would never have been possible without the remnant clouds of a former thunderstorm.
