Kelvin-Helmholtz instability
/ 0 Comments / in Misc, Random WeatherPossible far-off Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds in the background underneath the cumulus clouds. However, it could not be easily identified. Another photo shows the clouds underneath cumulus on the left hand side of the photo only. Such clouds are said to form due to atmospheric instability and turbulence which both were present on the day (in fact undulations within the mid-level cloud layer was also observed). The weather sounding is attached for further analysis.
