As translucidus

Formation of mid-level clouds with the sun clearly visible. This cloud had veiled the sky due to lingering cold pool of air around the Maltese Islands rendering the weather unstable over the area. In fact, the meteogram (2nd thumbnail) depicts the air profile showing `Thermal` and the formation of Altostratus clouds. The first thumbnail is a view of stratocumulus clouds developed due to the same cold air over warmer ground. This cloud was easily detectable through the satellite imagery on the third thumbnail that show low-level cloud cover over the Maltese Islands. The fourth thumbnail shows the Maltese Islands in the frindges of this cold airmass through lower freezing level than surrounding areas. The photographed altostratus cloud was followed by a quick rain shower in the area which is typical as such clouds indicate approaching instability.
