Cirrus covering vast areas of the sky was witnessed at that time as can be seen on the first thumbnail. The second thumbnail shows an upper high marginally extending towards the Maltese Islands and perhaps allowing these high clouds to pass just over us. Later that evening, these high clouds quickly dissipated.
