Lithometeor
/ 0 Comments / in Misc, Random WeatherA relatively thick haze in Santa Lucija caused by smoke or suspended dust particles following fireworks in Zurrieq for the feast of Saint Catherine celebration. This had drifted over the area due to a light SW wind under a broad high pressure system not allowing the smoke to rise much but rather fall to the ground. Haze such as photographed has been recently classified as a lithometeor under the Meteorological organization being the suspension of extremely small, dry particles invisible to the naked eye and sufficiently numerous to give the air an opalescent appearance.
