Isolated rain showers from cumulus and altocumulus clouds taken on an early October morning. The sun due to clear sky on the east side of Malta and very isolated rain showers on the western side (evident on the left hand side of the photo) managed to produce an almost whole rainbow arch with the falling rain drops acting as prism to seperate the sun`s light forming this rainbow. The cumuliform clouds and isolated rain showers had developed due to a cold front that passed over the Maltese Islands. This is indicated on the first thumbnail and the second thumbnail is a satellite image of the clouds arranged in a front confirming that the cold front acted as a trigger for these showers. The third thumbnail is the weather sounding showing a prevailing unstable airmass and `Thermals` (heating of the airmass from the surface) which is a typical scenario for such weather.
