Ci spissatus
/ 0 Comments / in Cirrus, High LevelsVery thick cirrus cloud (or indeed altocumulus at high level) heralding the approach of bad weather in the next 24 hours. In fact, it did occur in the evening of the following day with strong NW wind and rain showers. The synoptic map indicated the approach of a trough at 500mb (first thumbnail). Mid-level clouds were also observed on this day. The second thumbnail shows the formation of Cirrus fibratus or indeed vertebratus seemingly arranged in a spinal colomn. CREDIT to Mr. Kylie Borg for that picture. The third thumbnail shows another photo of cirrus spissatus clouds with the countryside in the background.
