Ci fibratus
/ 2 Comments / in Cirrus, High LevelsFormation of Ci fibratus due to warm winds at high altitudes (refer to wind map at 500mb) mingling with cooler air from below. The combination of warm, moist air is unevenly distributed hence forming the wispy fiber threads at the end of such clouds. The weather map showed a strong upper high to the south contrasting with an upper low above it. Note: Earlier that afternoon, a localized dry micro-burst might have formed due to noticed increased wind speed and fluctuating humidity. Altocumulus clouds were also observed but could not be properly photographed due to the very hazy sky.
