Their subspecies `castellanus` is totally appropriate as these photographed clouds are literally towering into the air due to a positive vorticity at 500mb in this particular case. However, no noticeable bad weather was observed apart from isolated light rain later which is not a common phenomena in Malta during July. The wind at the ground was light but increased later after the passage of these clouds.
