Ac perlucidus

Mid-level clouds probably formed due to light and humid easterly winds gently rising over the Maltese terrain causing such formation on the western side of Malta. A cold pool of air was present over the Central Mediterranean as indicated by the `Freezing Level` chart. Notice the cumulus cloud formation in the background over the open sea due to this cold pool being heated and moisturized by the warmer sea. The weather sounding depicts the atmospheric profile on the day.
