Ac undulatus
/ 0 Comments / in Altocumulus, Medium LevelsFormation of beautiful undulations within the cloud layer as a cold pool of air affected the Maltese Islands. Rain showers only affected the northern portions of the Island. Also notice the lack of low-level clouds which might have been due to a southwesterly wind transporting relatively dry air at the surface inhibiting low-level cloud formation. From the weather sounding, there seems to have been low wind shear despite such clouds normally requiring a degree of wind shear to obtain this beautiful wave-like formation. A surface low pressure was present over the Central Mediterranean.
