Formation of bubbly cumulus clouds due to an unstable airmass following 16 hours of rainfall between 9-10Feb18 as the ground was still very wet turning the sun’s energy into water vapour. The first thumbnail shows widespread formation of cirrus spissatus and cirrus fibratus clouds and may have been associated with former cumulonimbus clouds that have developed nearby – the third thumbnail is the visible satellite image clearly showing streets of cumulus and high clouds. The second thumbnail is the weather sounding showing Air thermals and instability which was aided by the saturated ground and the fourth thumbnail shows an upper-level cold pool of air over the Central Mediterranean.
