/ 0 Comments / in Cumulus, Low LevelsRain shafts falling from cumulus clouds but seemingly evaporating before reaching the ground. This is quite a rare cloud for the Maltese Islands as normally the air is humid enough to allow precipitation from such low-level cloud to fall all the way to the ground plus isolated showers were present over Malta earlier on. This day saw the formation of lots of clouds in the vicinity probably because Malta was near the centre of a cold-core small but active low pressure system (3rd thumbnail). The first thumbnail shows another view of the same cloud while the second shows the current rainfall areas on that day indicating a line of nearby bad weather. The final thumbnail shows a large cumulus cloud which developed early that morning. Further explanation can be found here.
