Formation of further cumulus clouds on the Eastern side of Malta as the previous day`s Mediterranean cyclone here `Cyclone cumuliform` looped (retrograde movement) around the Eastern side of Sicily before dissipating over the Ionian Sea. This movement closely related with the circulation of air at 500mb as shown by the closed low on the East of Malta on the 500mb chart (2nd thumbnail). The weather sounding of the day (1st thumbnail) indicated a still unstable airmass especially at lower levels.
