/ 0 Comments / in Cumulus, Low LevelsFormation of cumulus clouds due to an upper level cut-off low moving southwards towards North Africa. In the surface pressure chart, this upper low is shown by a solid black line near the Maltese Islands. Furthermore, a small pocket of cold air in the upper atmosphere was located to the East of the Maltese Islands. Note that the first thumbnail shows the decay of the photographed cloud due to rather unfavourable conditions (the land and sea are not as warm as during Autumn) and the second shows other cumuliform clouds forming. During the day, cumulus pileus had also formed over Gozo (the sister Island of Malta) due to lots of moisture in the upper levels vide
