Formation of cumulus clouds due to an upper level cut-off low moving southwards towards North Africa. In the surface pressure chart, this upper low is shown by a solid black line near the Maltese Islands. Furthermore, a small pocket of cold air in the upper atmosphere was located to the East of the Maltese Islands.
