Formation of cumulus clouds due to cold air vs warm sea interaction. Small waterspouts were also reported from this benign cloud system because of instability around the East side of Malta. Air temperature at 850mb was reported to be below 10C while sea temperature was around 23C. This might have also contributed to the waterspout formation.
