Ac lenticularis

Formation of what looks like marginal lenticularis within the cloud being slightly higher up than the cumulus cloud level as evident in the first thumbnail. The weather sounding on the second thumbnail indicating a strong lifting mechanism of the NW wind blowing at the time over the Maltese Islands over the warmer seas. However, the third thumbnail also shows that the Mistral did not blow over any mountains or higher grounds before reaching the area making the photographed cloud formation quite mysterious. Sometimes, lenticular clouds are indeed observed over the Maltese Islands as shown here. Having some lense-like characteristics, it was decided to classify it as Altocumulus Lenticularis.
