Cb mammatus
/ 0 Comments / in All Levels, CumulonimbusThis was another storm cloud present during the same time that the following Cb photo was taken. Click here for a detailed weather situation explanation for this day. This cloud seems to have been more powerful than the following one because within the anvil, mammatus-feautures were formed. This may have indicated stronger downdraft within the cloud`s anvil. Such clouds indicate a mature and potentially severe thunderstorm though by themselves these are totally harmless. The first thumbnail shows this cloud in comparison with an AirMalta aeroplane while the second one shows three close mamma hanging from within the anvil. The latter might have also been scud clouds that formed in the outflow region of the cloud.
