Formation of cumulus and cumulonimbus due to the passage of a low pressure system and instability over the Maltese Islands. The satellite imagery suggested that it was a mature low due to the typical comma shape of the clouds. Furthermore, an upper-level cold pool of air was centered over the Maltese Islands.
