Cb incus
/ 0 Comments / in All Levels, CumulonimbusPhoto obtained from the maltaweathersite webcam. Cumulonimbus incus with quite a vast enlongated anvil probably due to very strong northerly winds at the anvil`s altitude of about 10km (the wind is marked as red in the weather sounding). Combined with prevailing moisture at that altitude and wind shear helped to shape this cloud in a rather unusual and beautiful way. Rain was also falling underneath its base. The cloud moved very little due to wind of less than 43kmh up to an altitude of 6.5km which includes the steering winds at 500mb.
