In fact, the eastern side of Malta had reported thunderstorms which did not affect any landmass. This cloud had developed due to a small area of low pressure that developed over northern Libya and moved northeastwards towards the east of Malta. The first thumbnail show part of this cloud formation while the second and third thumbnails show the passage of the African low pressure system missing Malta by a whisker
