Formation of cumulonimbus clouds after an unseasonably lengthy warm and dry spell due to the approach of a cold front from the west as can be seen in the SLP chart. Lots of instability was present. The first thumbnail shows the formation of local cumulus congestus cloud – typical clouds preceding the arrival of a cold front.
